My name is Cheryl Steenson.
I'm a daughter of the Flathead, an English teacher at
Glacier High School, and a
candidate for the Democratic nomination for House District
8 (the heart of Kalispell) in the Montana Legislature.
Why do I seek this office and ask for your support?
Because we need a real improvement in Helena that
translates to improvement in our lives. Craig Witte, our
current representative, had a partisan attitude and a
confrontational and unrealistic approach to governing.
This contributed greatly to the destructive gridlock
that characterized the 2007 legislative session.
We can, and must, do better. We deserve it.
We deserve a representative who will set aside
partisanship and rigid ideology to work for practical
solutions to the issues that affect our lives: taxes,
health care, education, jobs and economic development,
clean air and water, access to recreational lands.
We deserve a representative who knows when to fight and
when to compromise, who always works hard, and for whom
civility is a way of life, not a sign of weakness.
This is how I was raised, and how I live my life today. I
can guarantee you it's the kind of representation
that you will have, if you elect me. Please help me return common
sense and decency to our legislature. I'm running a high
energy, high profile, grassroots campaign . It is a
community based campaign to bring more progressive,
and more effective representation to Helena. Working
together, we will make Montana a better place.
